Alright, I've decided to start a blog. Darn peer pressure gets you every time! So, I'm not sure how interesting this will be, but I think it's a good way for our friends and family to keep up with our life in Virginia. And if we have nothing to say, it's a good place to post pictures! I think both sets of our family wishes we would send/email more pictures.
So, this weekend I went to RI for a weekend visit. Rob is up there for school (he comes home tomorrow!) and our friends, Katie and Beau, are up there as well. We thought this would be the perfect opportunity for all of us to get together. And it was! We had such a good time. I'm glad I was able to get up there for a visit. Friday day/ night was more or less a bust because of my 15 hours of travel woes, this was due to various maintenance delays and weather delays (yes, I flew!). All that we really had time for Friday night was dinner. We had a good time though. It was so nice catching up. Above is a picture of Beau and Rob from that night. Katie and I didn't feel like we looked our best, so we refrained from taking pictures.:)
Saturday we went to Boston for the day. We had so much fun! We went to the USS Constitution, which Rob LOVED. There was another ship there, and Rob and Beau ended up getting a personal tour on that ship!
We had lunch at an Irish pub.
And we went to the Aquarium.
It was very cold out, but I'm glad we got out to see the city.
On Sunday, we had a nice relaxing day. My flight didn't leave until 5:00 PM, so we pretty much had all day. It started snowing early that morning. RI was expected to get a foot of snow!

I was a little worried about my flight, but I wasn't going to let it ruin my last day. That morning, Katie made us a delicious breakfast and then we drove around Newport looking at all the mansions. Most of the houses were built a very long time ago and some of them are still occupied today. They were enormous! Maybe with my good looks and Rob's brains we'll end up in a mansion like that someday! We had lunch at a beach club and then it was off to the airport. Amazingly, my flight from RI to DC was on time. However, my flight from DC to Norfolk was cancelled because of the impending weather. Big surprise there! Earlier in the day though, I rented a car just in case. I drove from DC to Norfolk, the drive should normally take 3 hours, but it took me 6 hours. Most of the roads were fine, but there was a small (14 mile) stretch of road that was covered in ice/slush. It took me two hours to drive two miles. I was safe in my bed by 1:30 AM. Lucky for me, work let us out at noon the next day, so I was able to catch up on my sleep.
I had such a good time visiting RI, even with all my travel drama. Katie and Beau are such an amazing couple, I feel lucky to have them as friends. And of course, I wouldn't miss the chance to see my husband!:)
