Bath Time!

Today we took Annabelle for some much needed exercise.  It's been raining for the past couple of days, and poor thing has been cooped up in the house.  Today started out cloudy, but ended sunny, warm and beautiful!  We took Annabelle to the field down the street from our house.  She got a lot of running in, but the ground was very wet and muddy.  Annabelle was pretty muddy when we left the field, so we decided to take her for a bath.  There's a place down the street from us where you can take your dogs and wash them there.  They provide all the supplies (tub, water, shampoo, doggy perfume) and you wash the dog.  It's a really neat concept and keeps our bathroom from getting dirty!

New Addition!

After months of debating, we have FINALLY decided to go for it!  Thats right, we bought new furniture!  Macey and I selected a new leather couch, love seat and chair about a month ago and it was just delivered today.  Ever since we moved into this house, we have not been able to compromise on what pictures to hang or what to put in our living room.  After the furniture was in place, we made a trip to Target and Bed, Bath & Beyond (BB&B) to find something to accent the new addition. Seven throw pillows, five pictures, a mirror and rug were all purchased without a hint of disagreement.  Below are the pictures of the new addition.  Enjoy!

Segway Mania

Sunday was another beautiful day!  Rob made plans for us to ride segways for a couple hours.  I've wanted to try them out for some time now and Rob knew this.  So, he researched them on the internet and found a company in the area that tours on them.  For those of you that don't know, segways require no gas, they run off of battery power.  To go forward, you lean forward, to go backwards you lean backwards.  They can get up to 12.5 mph.

We went on a nice covered bike trail in Virginia Beach.  There were a lot of people out enjoying the beautiful day.  Everyone who passed us smiled, and our guide was able to hand out many of his cards to the passerbys.

Our tour guide took us down a boardwalk to "the most beautiful view in Virginia".  Below is a picture of  us and the view.

It's very pretty, but nothing compares to our beaches back home.

We had so much fun this weekend.  I'm so lucky to have such a thoughtful husband to spend the weekend with.

Saturday

Saturday was absolutely beautiful!  It was sunny and the high was about 75.  We took advantage, because we know the cold weather is not done with us.  We packed a lunch and headed for Mt. Trashmore for a little while.  Yes, I said Mt. TRASHmore.  Apparently, this park used to be a landfill that 'they' covered  and it's now a park.  It's really popular around here, so we wanted to see what it was all about.

Annabelle got to come with us, but she wasn't allowed off her leash.

Look closely at the picture below, Annabelle has treats on both paws!  She's such a good girl.:)
After Mt. Trashmore, we took Annabelle to the park down the street from our house.

Daddy's Home!!

Rob got home last night from RI. Annabelle was very excited to see him. Unfortunately, Annabelle wasn't able to take pictures of Rob and I, but here's a couple of Annabelle and her daddy.

Rhode Island

Alright, I've decided to start a blog.  Darn peer pressure gets you every time!  So, I'm not sure how interesting this will be, but I think it's a good way for our friends and family to keep up with our life in Virginia.  And if we have nothing to say, it's a good place to post pictures!  I think both sets of our family wishes we would send/email more pictures.

So, this weekend I went to RI for a weekend visit.  Rob is up there for school (he comes home tomorrow!) and our friends, Katie and Beau, are up there as well.  We thought this would be the perfect opportunity for all of us to get together.  And it was!  We had such a good time.  I'm glad I was able to get up there for a visit.  Friday day/ night was more or less a bust because of my 15 hours of travel woes, this was due to various maintenance delays and weather delays (yes, I flew!).  All that we really had time for Friday night was dinner.  We had a good time though.  It was so nice catching up.  Above is a picture of Beau and Rob from that night.  Katie and I didn't feel like we looked our best, so we refrained from taking pictures.:)

Saturday we went to Boston for the day.  We had so much fun!  We went to the USS Constitution, which Rob LOVED.  There was another ship there, and Rob and Beau ended up getting a personal tour on that ship!

We had lunch at an Irish pub.

And we went to the Aquarium.

It was very cold out, but I'm glad we got out to see the city.

On Sunday, we had a nice relaxing day.  My flight didn't leave until 5:00 PM, so we pretty much had all day.  It started snowing early that morning.  RI was expected to get a foot of snow!

I was a little worried about my flight, but I wasn't going to let it ruin my last day.  That morning, Katie made us a delicious breakfast and then we drove around Newport looking at all the mansions.  Most of the houses were built a very long time ago and some of them are still occupied today.  They were enormous!  Maybe with my good looks and Rob's brains we'll end up in a mansion like that someday!  We had lunch at a beach club and then it was off to the airport.  Amazingly, my flight from RI to DC was on time.  However, my flight from DC to Norfolk was cancelled because of the impending weather.  Big surprise there!  Earlier in the day though, I rented a car just in case.  I drove from DC to Norfolk, the drive should normally take 3 hours, but it took me 6 hours.  Most of the roads were fine, but there was a small (14 mile) stretch of road that was covered in ice/slush.  It took me two hours to drive two miles.  I was safe in my bed by 1:30 AM.  Lucky for me, work let us out at noon the next day, so I was able to catch up on my sleep.

I had such a good time visiting RI, even with all my travel drama.  Katie and Beau are such an amazing couple, I feel lucky to have them as friends.  And of course, I wouldn't miss the chance to see my husband!:)
