Weekend Visit

Wednesday night, Rob's mom flew in for a long weekend visit.  We haven't seen Tia since our wedding.  Almost a year!  We were excited to have her stay with us.
Thursday (I had to work) Rob was able to get off work really early.  Rob and Tia went to the NEX (that's Navy Exchange for you non-Navy folks) and then headed to the Edgar Cayce Association for Research and Enlightenment.  Edgar Cayce was known as a sleeping prophet.  He gave psychic readings to thousands of people, while in an unconscious state.  Tia has wanted to visit this institute for many years, so she was very excited to finally check it out.
Friday, Rob took off work (FINALLY, a long needed break) and I was able to get off work a little early.  We had lunch downtown and then took a tour of the local zoo.  Below are pictures from the zoo.

We finished the day off with a movie and dinner.  We went to see "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds.  It was a pretty good movie.  I actually heard Rob laugh a couple of times.  I MIGHT have seen a tear in his eye.
Saturday, Rob had to go into work for a little while so Tia and I went to the nail salon and got pedicures.  We both picked different shades of pink.  The pedicure was very relaxing.  When Rob got home, we went to the aquarium.  The aquarium has an IMAX theater.  We were able to watch a 3D movie called "Under the Sea".  It was really good!  All the children kept reaching up trying to grab the fish in the movie, it was pretty funny.  Below are pictures from the Aquarium.

Sunday, we went to Colonial Williamsburg.  It was a very nice day.  Low 80's and plenty of cloud cover.  We had a nice time walking around and watching the various reenactments.  There's so much to do there!

Tia's flight left tonight at 7:15.  We were sad to see her go, but we were very happy that she was able to come up for a visit.  Rob's leave has been approved for the first week in August.  We're finally coming home!  We are both very excited to see our families.  We can't wait to see everyone.

New Kids on the Block

New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) was the boy band of the 80's.  Every pre-teen girl was captivated by this group.  Of course, I was one of them!  I never got to go to one of their concerts though.  Whenever I reminisce with my friends about our childhoods, NKOTB always comes up.  Everyone has been to one of their concerts and it always has made me a little sad that I never got to go.  Until now!

Last year I heard that NKOTB was getting back together and they were touring.  I didn't think anything of it until a couple of months later when one of my friends from middle school sent me an email and told me she had gone to their concert.  I was immediately jealous.  I jumped on their website to see if they were coming to a city close to us.  Charlotte was the closest, and that was 5 hours away.  On a weekday.  I had just started my job, so I couldn't take anytime off.  Charlotte was out.  Then about  5 months ago, I heard they were going to be in Richmond.  Only an hour or so away.  Again, during the week.  No one to go with me, so Richmond was out.  Then a couple of months ago I heard on the radio that they were coming to Virginia Beach!  I was so excited!  They were coming to MY city!  AHHHH!!!!!!  I immediately sent Rob an email and told him about the concert.  I don't have a lot of friends here that are my age (who would appreciate NKOTB), so I asked Rob if he would go with me.  He said yes!!!!

The concert was last night and it was amazing!  NKOTB sang some of their new songs, but of course they sang the old ones as well.  "Please Don't Go Girl", "Tonight", "Step By Step", "Right Stuff", "I'll Be Loving You Forever" and they closed the show with "Hangin' Tough".   It wasn't a sold out show, but the place was packed!  Girls were screaming, singing along and dancing.  It was so much fun.  Rob just stood back, watched and let me have my fun.  Here's pictures from last night:

Rob looks so happy!
That's better...
Joey, Jordan, Jon, Donnie and Danny!

Jordan singing in the audience.  Looks like he's still got it!
Donnie (this one's for you Jessi!)
Joey, my favorite!!!

Rob's so excited.  They're about to sing Hangin' Tough

It really meant a lot to me to go to this show.  It meant even more that Rob would go with me.
